Children's Literacy Programs:

The Children’s Room offers regular literacy programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as special program throughout the year such as our summer reading challenge, nature and science programs and book events. Our regular school year programs engage our youngest museum patrons through stories, songs, games, and crafts. For toddlers our story hour promotes speech and listening skills though repetition and fun challenges. Our preschool program assists in the development of early social and behavioral skills essential for schooling. And our programs for babies stimulate language development and increase their capacity for learning. For an up to date schedule of our weekly and special programs, See below


Children's Library Programs
Tuesdays, Sept. 12th, 19th, 26th, 10:30 a.m. - Junior Engineers. Storytime and STEM for ages 3-5 (but all are welcome) Feel free to come when you can during the timeslot!

Wednesdays, Sept. 13th, 20th, 27th, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - LEGO Challenge for all ages. A new building challenge every week!

Thursdays, Sept. 14th, 21st, 28th, 10:30 a.m. - Romp and Rhyme Storytime. Songs, rhyme and stories followed by free play time.

Fridays, Sept. 15th, 22nd, 29th, 10:30 a.m. - Wee Readers. Baby story time with songs, bouncing and more!

Thursday Crafternoons
Thursday, Sept. 21st, 2:30pm-3:45pm
Our monthly Crafternoon on every Third Thursday is back in the Deering Room! This is an after school craft session open to all ages, preschool to high school. You bring your imagination, and we'll supply the supplies!
