A mystery is unfolding in the Deering Mansion on Friday, October 23rd… and we need your help to solve it. Wander through our spooky, darkened building to uncover the clues you’ll need to solve the crime!
Dyer Library is housed in what was formerly the home of the Deering Family until the mid-1950s. This mansion was retrofitted to become a public library – and all of the eccentricities you’d expect will be on full display. There will be numerous stairs to get to all parts of the building.
Please note that there will be low lighting, dark corners, and occasionally uneven footing as you explore the mansion. All unlocked doors are fair game to pass through and explore. While we have done our best to provide both a safe and spooky environment, we rely on your responsible use of our space.
You can move through the mystery at your own pace. The food and drink included with your ticket will be available throughout the event.
New this year: We are partnering with Saco Main Street to offer their Saco Noir Walk on the same night! Start your evening with a guided walk hosted by DLSM’s Anatole Brown, who will lead you around some of Saco’s historic sites with a ghostly or grisly past – with a few stops along the way. The walk will end at Dyer Library, where you will have the latest and spookiest (that is to say, darkest!) entry to the Deering Mystery.
Too spooky for kids, this event is 21+.
