How do you access the library catalog with your new card?

four library cards

Our new library cards are here!

Our special limited edition library cards are here! Featuring the winning entries in our design contest, these new cards will be necessary once we transition to MINERVA, our new cataloguing system, at the end of July.

What does that mean for our patrons?

Lots of changes, but all good ones! Once we are part of Minerva you will have greater access to more materials and shorter wait times for interlibrary loans. Just think of it as Dyer Library getting an upgrade!

MINERVA is a statewide system, and with that comes with new, longer barcodes. It’s easy to switch over your card, and you get to choose from a limited edition library card design with a handy keychain fob. Plus, you’ll automatically be entered in a raffle for a $50 gift certificate to a local business! Stop by the Circulation Desk or Youth Services Desk today to choose your new card.

What is MINERVA?

Minerva is a shared library system that brings together over 60 libraries across the state. This means that you can borrow books from other libraries and even visit them in person! On vacation and want to borrow a book in Belfast? Stop by their library and check one out! Hit the cliffhanger in a series and the next volume is checked out at Dyer? Drive over to Scarborough and borrow theirs! Not to mention it makes requesting a book we don’t have much faster through the delivery system. The computer interface is intuitive and easy to use and there are really helpful tools both for you and for your librarians.
